Dont be a store manager

Pros

Before the expansion into California Verge was fair and a great place to work. The commission is good ONLY IF you sell unethically. The current comp structure is the worst one they’ve had yet. The company used to be great.

Cons

The frontline makes all the sales and sees the short end of the stick. Low pay for anyone in the store especially store managers dont fall for the salary because you must work a minimum of 45 hours with the exception of California. At least an assistant store manager gets paid overtime for being hourly. Upper management has no empathy nor understanding of how the stores work day to day. Directors in the office that supports get grossly overpaid for doing very little for the company. This company Focuses so much on its leaders in Houston that it forgets the front line that’s out there every day working 45+ hours. The worst part is the commission, since the companies going through financial struggles they will try to take your commission on any technicality they can find.

Pros

High energy especially from the leadership team Classroom/ Hands on Dedicated training Easy hiring process Potential for growth and development Training Seminars for leaders Some Benefits

Cons

*As sales reps you are expected to work over 40 hours a week and only get paid for 39 or right at 40 hours (which is illegal in the state of texas) employees are scared to speak up because feel there will be retaliation. ** This needs to get fixed ASAP *As a Manger you are expected to work 50 hours a week, and run the risk of not even getting a commission check. * 75 day wait period before you collect your first comission check *If you leave you have to wait 4 months to get your final comission check, and if your a manger you get 50% of an already delutied check. * 1 training location for the houston market and its locacted in Katy (dairy ashford) * Compensation way to low in all positions Rsa, Ram, Rsm, DM * They promote people way to soon because lack of options *The turnover rate is extremley high, stores are always short staff *over work Store Managers to handle inventory, sales, operations

Lousy Higher Ups

Pros

Co-workers are no older than 30 so it's a lively company. Great employee discounts on service.

Cons

If you don't sell, you get threats of write ups. You're expected to make cold calls to schedule appointments to create traffic, but that method is almost never reliable. There's an endless amount of meetings each month for trainings in which gets contradicted by the directions our managers and higher ups gives us. One hands on training will tell you to be considerate of the customer's pocket, but if the store is not doing well then you will be told to maximize as much as possible. You will get berated by management if the customer insists and only wants a bare minimum $50 plan without add ons such as accessories and insurance. You get in trouble if the customer walks because you're pushing all these extras on them and you will get in trouble if they only get the bare minimum. It's a double edged sword. It is ridiculous that we are trained to be proud for being the most affordable carrier, but we get lynched if the customer does not agree to an unlimited data plan on of all their phones, five tablets, all with bogus insurance on them, and four $250 speakers added. The commission structure is pitiful. The best commission check one can get is $800 and that is just during December.
