Pros

theres not enough good things to write

Cons

Dentures change diapers wipe their bottoms deal with a lot of their mental abuse lift them and sometimes they are dead weight for the most part this is not worth what they barely pay you, you make peanuts slaving away. Just know it's a lot harder than they make it look and you are getting underpaid, another thing is a lot of times you are putting a lot of wear and tear on your car taking them here and there to doctors appointments shopping centers for little mileage they will pay you something as long as you have the client in the car but you don't get paid to drive all the way out to people's houses no matter how far they are you basically put a lot of wear and tear on your car for little pay. It gets exhausting and and maddening. I really put my all into this job at first doing my best but what I found this to be a lot of also was older people just needing a professional housekeeper to come in a lot of these people had you slaving away for the full two hours washing dishes mopping floors cleaning windows then complaining to the company when you sat down and took a five minute break. I was confused a lot of times as to what my job really was if I would have known I would have been hired as a housekeeper I would have never taken it. I don't have an issue with them saying light housekeeping but please know a lot of these elderly people want you to do full on house keeping. The boundaries were also blurred many times you can say no to a certain degree but some of these houses are hoarder houses and one of the families was living with the elderly woman that I was taking care of and they expected me to do some chores around the house which was already a hoarder house however they wanted me to help them go into a very unsanitary kitchen with rotted meat and dump it over their balcony. Some of the things that they expect and want you to do are ridiculous I'm scratching my head thinking wait hold on here now I'm dealing with unsanitary conditions and touching rotted meat? The boundaries are often blurred in these situations you don't know if you're hired as a caregiver or someone to come out and clean out and sanitize a hoarding house. Again this job was disappointing to me and very confusing I felt taken advantage of and used by the company a lot and despite really giving it an effort to do my best a lot of the clients complained about me and they reassigned my shifts if I wasn't getting caught for being a horrible housekeeper then one of the daughters would complain about me for leaving 5 minutes early. I seemed to get more complaints than pats on the back . I personally don't recommend this job. Its a underpaid , thankless job with a company that takes advantage of you and despite really being excited about it , trying to be positive and give it 100% effort of doing what everyone wants you still get crabby family members and clients just in a bad place in life and only able to complain for after breaking your back to make them happy! ALSO please be warned if you go out of your way through all the training ect after getting hired and they told you they will definitely give you at least x amount of hours per week , just know this is not true they will tell you after your hired you have to work towards it, thats all fine however they need to let you know that before you're hired, lots of deception .

Horrible, greedy management, low pay

Pros

The clients are literally the only pro. They are all so sweet and pay WAY too much for care.

Cons

Management is so unorganized and never communicate with you. When you are running late, you cannot call and let your coworkers know, you have to call management and they often forget to let people know. I was paid the wrong amount my very first check. There are SO many ridiculous rules, like “no talking about you life” and “no giving clients your personal number.” If you break any of the 30 or something rules they give you points and if you get more than 6 per period you lose your job. Even if a client is in cardiac arrest, you are advised to call the visiting angels office BEFORE 911. The pay is HORRIBLE and there are barely any benefits. You are hardly allowed to do anything since you are considered a “non-medical caregiver”. The owner is a multi-millionaire and everyone else is paid the least amount possible. Office employees expect caregivers to always be available, never ask questions or criticize management and never ask why they are paid so little when clients are charged an arm and a leg. They literally ONLY work with wealthy families and brag about how nice all of their clients houses are, so unprofessional.

Pros

Great clients, as with any agency

Cons

No training for their caregivers. Caregivers are just sent into homes with never having met the clients and a small, generic list of duties, such as “perform adl’s “. Low pay and no benefits Two of the supervisors can be very snobby and rude Shifts changed and canceled at last minute often. When this happens, you’re expected to just wait around for them to tell you when you’re going to be working next. You don’t know if you’re going to be working 12 hrs or 0 hrs that day. Very, very poor communication with caregivers and with clients and clients families Don’t get the sense that they genuinely care about their employees. It seems to be all about the money that they can make. I witnessed multiple incidents where clients were literally left alone because they hadn’t scheduled a caregiver. One had dementia and was left alone for 8 hr periods multiple times. The family complained and left the agency. Very few back up workers when caregivers call in. So the client/client’s family is left without a caregiver for the day at times Multiple caregivers to one home with no consistency. They’ll promise clients at signing of contract that they’ll have one regular caregiver but usually can’t or don’t follow through on this promise Very high turn over rate No schedule for Saturday through Friday until Friday at 5pm. So as an employee, you can’t make weekend plans until Friday at 5pm.
