Pros

Werner is a dynamic company where people with a passion for what they do can excel. There are oftentimes many opportunities to directly impact the direction of the company and many people in positions of leadership, are willing to listen and take recommendations from people who are out in the field, making things happen. The Senior Leadership really cares for the Drivers and for the Employees. The company has always kept an eye out for the overall health of the company but the well being of the employees as well. It is a great company to work for in many regards. The pros definitely outweighed the negatives, but the few negatives there were, are so outrageous, they may cost the company a large number of quality employees if things aren't changed.

Cons

Middle Management/Lower Managers have zero integrity. They are liars. They will lie to the employees and then lie to Senior Management to protect their jobs. There are a few Managers that put their Directors & Vice Presidents in unfortunate situations where decisions have to be made that are detrimental to the employees. There are instances of Managers boasting to their employees that they are "untouchable" because it will be their word against the employees. Unfortunately, that is true. It's a tragedy that good employees have their names besmirched by Managers that have a track record of employees leaving the company, based solely on that Managers behaviors. Until Werner addresses this issue, there will be many outstanding, award winning & recognized employees leaving the company to pursue other interests. It's unfair to Werner because it paints an outstanding company as not having the willingness to verify and authenticate the behavior of people they have entrusted to lead others.

Pros

Accepted right out of driving school. Good exercise, lost 20 lbs. Good on the job training. Trainer was kind of crazy, like me. Generally, 34 hr. resets are at home.

Cons

Pay turned out to be only about half of what the recruiter said it would be. Health insurance lacked. Fleet Manager was just plain mean most of the time. Dollar General buildings seem to be built without any consideration that tractor trailers would be delivering the freight. Had to push 1200 lb. rolltainers up unrealistic delivery areas. It was like the Mechanic's where doing you a favor to get trucks repaired, usually with a delay. If you started feeling good about yourself, either Werner or Dollar General would put you right back down with some sort of an issue. It's a job or a game that just can't be won by drivers. The job kept getting worse instead of better even though I worked my ass off regularly to the point of exhaustion. Too many people there saying, "Just be glad you have a job." If you allow that, that's what you will always get, a crapy job. At the end it was like "Fool me once, your fault. Fool me twice, my fault. Keep fooling me over and over again, I have to be a moron to stay, so I left. Last words I heard in the office, Another fleet manager saying to another driver, "We have been fooling you for years" and then laughing...

Pros

Werner Enterprises is a starter company for new drivers to get the experience they need to move to a different level. This is a very safety conscious company. They preach about safety everyday. If it's unsafe don't do it & there safety instructors will tell you that going through orientation. It is your name on your license not theirs. The pay is pretty good & that depends on what account you are running in. Werner has several accounts according to where you live. I am currently working on owning my own truck not through werner but some where else so I can have more control of what I make & where I go & how often I'm at home.

Cons

This is a forced dispatch company if you are a company emloyee. There are good fleet managers & there are bad ones. Good dispatchers & bad ones. Werner has a complaint procedure that must be followed if there are disagreements. If you don't ever speak up and say there's a problem then nothing will get resolved. Fleet managers & dispatchers have bosses & there bosses have bosses so if shout loud enough somebody will hear you. I have had to file a complaint on 2 occasions & got results.
