Pros

Benefits, work life balance. Office

Cons

Company is full of cliques and slandering liars. I left this company because they kept slandering an over qualified employee based off lies. A few employees should be taken to court for slandering and I believe they will be. It’s crazy a company could let employees lie about other employees the way they have.

Pros

If you get an offer to work at Zoom, take it. Zoom takes employee happiness seriously and people genuinely love the company. Eric Yuan is leaps and bounds beyond his peers when it comes to CEOs who care. His governing motto is essentially that employees should wake up in the morning happy to go to work; if that isn’t the case, he wants you to be honest about that with management. He also wants Zoom partners to win. He pushes the idea that when they win, Zoom wins. Happy employees who believe in the company also leads to an incredible environment. Everyone is working toward a communal goal; not for simply a paycheck (though they make sure everyone is compensated well above market rate). I absolutely hated leaving the company and only did so because I was presented with an opportunity that changed the trajectory of my career path. If you’re on the fence, consider this the push you need to take the leap. Zoom is worth it.

Pros

The product is still great and continues to get better. Especially as an internal tool for employees.

Cons

The company culture is terrible. People generally don’t seem to like giving or receiving it in a mature manner. Everyone is very adverse to any feedback (especially if critical). People also generally don’t understand their roles or the roles of others, which makes for really tense cross-functional partnerships. There is a lot of ego clashing. DEI is non-existent especially if you’re a person of color. A lot of micro and macro aggressions. They completely got rid of the head of DEI role and downsized that team, I’m not even sure if they have any influence at the company. Return to office policy roll out was a mess and absolutely impacted employee morale. The messaging of it also fell flat and felt disconnected from what the products do for people and what the company should stand for. Trust is at a low, but I haven’t exactly felt that since joining. Infrastructure is lacking internally, the systems and operations change often regardless of what you’re working on which makes the internal organization really haphazard. For a company that emphasizes care, they’ve been truly careless.
