Pros

Core product assortment has a cult following!

Cons

No work/life balance. Poor leadership from mid -level management up to New York office. There have been several sinking ship moments over the past few years since Shiseido purchased and basically ruined the brand. They treat employees terrible one layoff after another. It started with the closing of the SF offices when almost everyone lost their jobs. Sephora AEs were all laid off. This company has the audacity to take all the boutique managers to Orlando and then later announce that the company would close 100 boutiques. They hire and then lay off.

Pros

Bare Escentuals has a relaxed, generally positive culture with some very good people.

Cons

- Senior management is constantly making bad decisions; good people are jumping ship and running the company into the ground. - Product development has made several seriously bad decisions leading to lousy products, good people leaving and a seriously overworked, under-promoted and/or under-skilled team. New product quality is VERY inconsistent and untrustworthy due to mismanagement of product development and new launch schedules. - Promotions should not require nepotism or kissing-up, but that's de rigueur at BE. - Some departments have a really horrible work/life balance, working 70+ hours/week with senior management looking the other way. - Company doesn't know who they are, and they are NOT prestige cosmetics. This leads to making bad decisions around new product launches and marketing in particular.

Pros

Great co-workers. The people is what really keeps the lights on in this place. There is a general sense of satisfaction in keeping customers happy with the product.

Cons

Terrible top management. No clear strategy. Only chasing after the latest and greatest idea - which usually means they are late to the table again with innovation and unique product concepts.
