Pros

Great opportunity if you are looking for a temporary job. The office culture is friendly and you can learn a great deal. The product has a good price and quality. There are two managers that are excellent and are very supportive.

Cons

Very unstable work enviornment in the outside sales division. There are 2 very professional managers. One in outside sales and one in inside sales. 2 additional managers will micro manage you and expect performance goals that are not achievable. Sales reps/account executives are hired through a temp/employment agency so don't count on becoming a permanent employee. The average person lasts 2 weeks due to Ooma recycling the sales team continually. Every week they train new sales reps to replace the ones hired the past 2 weeks. They will tell you that you have potential to be hired permanently, don't believe it. Don't count on earning any commission, the goal requirements were changed the 2nd day and were impossible to achieve. If you are one of the lucky ones lasting a month, good luck on getting your car allowance. You will be let go before your 1st month and not receive it. Territories are not established the 1st week, yet you are expected to cold call without any marketing materials or business cards. You will be expected to cold call a minimum of 40 offices daily.....not on the phone, face to face. They have a team that will micro manage you hourly and expect you to enter each cold call immediately after each visit, not grouping them during a drive to the next area or at the end of the day. In addition to the minimum 40 physical office visits daily, you will be expected to meet at the office for a meeting. The days you don't meet in the office, you will be expected to join in a conference call. They will not commit to hiring an installer for the product you sell, so you will be required to install the system in the customer's office as well as setting up their system electronically. In order to achieve cold call requirements, plan on working evenings and weekends well in excess of 40 hours but you won't get paid for it. You will be constantly emailed from the micro managers telling you how far behind your team is and that there is no room for failure. Emails and texts from the 2 micro managers are very distracting especially when they are on the weekend or before 8am. No work/life balance, extremely stressful job with low pay and zero job security.

Pros

Management was not over my shoulder all the time. I had the freedom to work my territory.

Cons

They flat out lied about how they support us as sales people. Training is woefully inadequate! They do no advertising, took months to finally assign a territory, expect you to use a sales tracking tool that doesn't work. You will not only expect to sell, but also install with no assistance from management. They are making it up as they go along. The management team has no idea how to motivate. They turn and burn their employees. They make no effort to retain the sales staff, they would rather let someone go and start over with someone else.
