We are personal financial coaches serving our Nation’s military families.
Since our founding in 1958, we remain committed to supporting the lifelong financial security of the men and women who serve our country. Our passion is to coach our clients to become financially disciplined and confident, leveraging our knowledge in the military’s benefit structure and retirement programs. We pride ourselves on helping our clients get financially squared away from the start of their military careers to retirement and beyond, at home or during deployment, in times of joy and in times of tragedy. We believe there is no substitute for building a relationship of trust and mutual understanding other than meeting with an Advisor well-versed in the specific financial situations military families experience.
Most of our Advisors are veterans or military spouses. Our Advisors' experience equips them to understand the unique challenges brought by military life. Therefore, we focus on providing proactive service in flexible and convenient ways that best meet the evolving specialized needs of our clients. Wherever our clients go, First Command’s dedicated team is there for them with the knowledge and attention that they felt at their very first meeting.

We believe in coaching
At First Command Financial Services, our coaching philosophy is built on a mission-driven approach, helping military families work toward financial security through personalized guidance and ongoing support. As fiduciaries, our advisors are committed to acting in the best interest of clients, building long-term relationships founded on trust, education, and a profound understanding of the unique financial challenges faced by those they serve. They take on the role of mentors, providing financial coaching and strategies tailored to our clients’ needs. For those driven by purpose and passionate about service, First Command offers an environment that fosters the development of leadership skills and enables individuals to make a meaningful impact.

The DoD SkillBridge program at First Command Financial Services provides transitioning service members with hands-on experience in financial services, leadership, and corporate operations during their final months of active duty. Participants receive mentorship, training, and networking opportunities to explore career paths in financial coaching and support roles within the company. This program aligns with First Command’s commitment to empowering military families by equipping veterans with the skills and resources needed for a successful post-service career.
The Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program at First Command Financial Services offers transitioning service members and veterans a 12-week internship focused on corporate leadership, financial coaching, and professional development, providing a pathway to meaningful post-military careers.
The Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Fellowship Program similarly connects military spouses with paid fellowships in financial services, equipping them with hands-on experience, networking opportunities, and career growth potential. Both programs align with First Command’s mission to support military families by fostering professional development and employment opportunities within the company.
The application process for incoming advisor candidates with us begins with online submission and initial screening to assess alignment with our mission of serving military families. Selected candidates continue through the interview process with the local District Advisor. If selected to initiate the licensing sponsorship, finalists undergo an assessment and a comprehensive background check before commencing the licensing process. Once licenses are completed, this provides an opportunity for an offer to become a First Command Advisor and start training. This training expands the advisor's knowledge in financial acumen, First Command mission and value alignment, and client planning philosophy and engagement.
Our typical response timeline to applicants ranges between 1 and 2 business days. Interview timelines range between 1 to 4 weeks, depending on several factors.
