Every year Activision Blizzard organizes an annual Veterans Day of Service (VDOS). Employees across our US and UK company’s participate in giving back to those who have served by performing community service projects to benefit local veterans organizations. We wanted to give our interns a taste of how important this event is for us by coordinating their very own Intern Veteran Day of Service this past week. Interns from Activision, Central Technology, Vicarious Visions and more participated by putting together care packages for homeless veterans in their communities. They also got the chance to meet Dan Goldenberg, Executive Director of the Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) who shared the fantastic work CODE has done in supporting veterans in their transition to professional careers. Great Work #ATVIInterns you did us all proud! #ATVILIfe #WorkWithHeroes
A special thanks to the team at Blizzard Austin for welcoming the Walking with the Wounded team to our offices on Friday, June 15, for a morning meet-and-greet. Walking with the Wounded seeks to raise awareness and funds to support wounded ex-servicemen and women in their transition from the Armed Forces to sustainable employment. 6 former servicemen and women from the UK and the US will walk in several stages to total 1,000 miles across the U.S. One of their first stops earlier this month was at our Blizzard headquarters in Irvine, CA. A few of our BlizzATX vets were on hand to have breakfast with the Walking with the Wounded team before they hit the road and headed into central Austin to finish at the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue on Auditorium Shores. They will complete the entire expedition in September in New York City. We were honored to have them join us twice on their journey and wish the team the best in their important endeavor.
We are honored to be included in Fast Company's "The World's 50 Most Innovative Companies of 2018" and wanted to take this moment to thank our teams of exceptional professionals for their commitment, dedication and passion. It take heroes to make heroes! #ATVILife
Activision Blizzard and the Call of Duty Endowment are thrilled to be named the 2018 Gold Halo Award winner in the Social Services Category. The Halo Awards are North America’s highest honor for corporate social initiatives and cause marketing and presented by Engage for Good. This is the 3rd time the Call of Duty Endowment has been recognized by the Halo Awards for their efforts in the #veteran space “We’re so grateful for this recognition,” Dan Goldenberg, Executive Director of the Call of Duty Endowment. “Having started 2017 with the goal to deeply integrated our cause with Call of Duty: World War II’s great content, this is incredible validation of a campaign that has helped thousands of veterans find meaningful employment and educated millions of gamers about the Greatest Generation’s sacrifices and accomplishments.”
“Activision Blizzard had another strong quarter, growing year-over-year, setting top and bottom line records, and over-performing guidance. Our continued ability to set new records speaks to the quality of our teams and the breadth and enduring nature of our portfolio of franchises against the backdrop of a large and growing interactive market,” said Bobby Kotick, Chief Executive Officer of Activision Blizzard. “As we look ahead, our innovative core gaming pipeline, as well as initiatives like mobile, esports, and advertising, will continue to drive growth for our business.”
Paul Yan began working at the Toys For Bob studio as a character animator and technical director right at the end of Madagascar’s production. Before he joined Toys For Bob, Yan had worked in the web development industry and quickly learned the demands of making a video game, especially one that had to adjust quickly to a changing script and character list while the film was in development. “I quickly found out that video games are harder than web development,” Yan said with a laugh. “It’s a different type of software, but still very fun. It takes an army."
“We’re honored to have come together with the USO entertainment team through this extraordinary opportunity to spend time with active duty service members stationed overseas as a further reflection of our appreciation and recognition for their service,” said Dan Goldenberg, Executive Director of the Call of Duty Endowment “The Call of Duty Endowment shares a common bond with the USO to support the men and women of our armed forces. Through this tour we visited as many troops as possible to add some fun to their daily routine. On behalf of the Endowment, the Call of Duty team and everyone at Activision, we’re grateful to them for their service.”
"I firmly believe in 'You Gotta Have Fun To Make Fun', and I’m fortunate enough to come into the office every morning to a culture and team that embody just that. Keeping things fun and fresh are essential to making your profession feel less like work and more like play." - Stephanie Bertran, Employee Communications #ATVILife #ItsThePeople #WorkWithHeroes
