Each year, Akima holds a silent auction fundraiser to benefit our Iñupiaq shareholders in the NANA region of Alaska. This week, our largest-ever silent auction fundraiser raised over $77,000 for KOTZ Radio, the NANA region's only radio station and a vital source of communication to residents above the Arctic Circle. We’re proud that our employees and teams from across the company rallied together to support a cause that’s important to our shareholders!
Check out the this photo from our three Akima employees — Mamie Karmun, Savannah Garrett, and Elizabeth Johnson — who traveled on behalf of Akima to the NANA region in Northwest Alaska. Despite the uncertainty of today's environment, construction continues to push forward on the new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency western headquarters in St. Louis. Crews from Castle Contracting, a member of the McCarthy HITT design-build team leading the $1.7 billion project, are currently doing the mass grading of the 97-acre site, which entails moving more than 775,000 cubic yards of soil. That's the equivalent to filling Busch Stadium with dirt one and a half times! Akima is a proud member of the McCarthy HITT design-build team, and we look forward to sharing continuing updates on the progression of this world-class facility.
