We drenched our CEO, Bob DiMuccio, as well as our top two employee fundraising teams in support of The ALS Association Rhode Island Chapter's CEO Soak! This was Bob’s last chance to get soaked before he retires later this year. So far, we’ve raised more than $57,000, and you can help us keep the momentum going through August by making a donation at https://donate.ri.als.org/fundraiser/3992493. All donations directly support The ALS Association RI Chapter.
One of our favorite traditions is honoring the employees who are celebrating 25 years at Amica by adding bricks inscribed with their names to the courtyard at our corporate headquarters. These are just some of the dedicated employees we were proud to honor this year.
June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and we’re spotlighting Nathan, an account manager at our National Sales Center – West, who volunteers for The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada. Nathan has logged over 700 volunteer hours for The Center. He staffs their 24-hour crisis hotline, and has become an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, a group that’s often victimized by hate crimes. Recently, Nathan received a monetary grant for The Center through our Employee Community Involvement Program for his significant volunteer work. “As a victim advocate, I am blessed with the opportunity and responsibility to support my community in times of crisis,” Nathan says. We’re excited to announce we were again selected as one of the Best Places to Work in Rhode Island! This is the 13th year we’ve received this honor from Providence Business News. We want to give a big shout-out to every member of the #AmicaFamily, who make Amica a wonderful place to work!
In our 2021 Annual Report, we summarize the past year and share stories about how we're enriching our relationship with our customers.
This week is National Volunteer Week, and we’d like to share the story of Dawn, a lead financial systems analyst at our corporate headquarters! Dawn volunteers her time as an instructor with the Survive-OARS, a rowing team of women who are survivors of breast cancer. Dawn helped tailor winter workouts to the team’s needs and demonstrated the rowing stroke during training. The rowing group is one of the most inspirational teams of women that Dawn has ever met, and she’s proud to be able to help these women on their healing journey.
March is Women’s History Month, so we’re highlighting the story of Catie, a business intelligence specialist at Amica, who is inspired by autistic rights activist Temple Grandin. Catie recently received an autism diagnosis and has found inspiration from Grandin’s work, which highlights the different ways that autistic individuals think. Catie, who thinks visually and in patterns, felt encouraged by Grandin’s advocacy to change her career path and pursue her passion for computer programming. She also wants to create awareness and encourage others. “For so long, I wanted to do what I thought was considered normal,” Catie says. “But once you embrace that quirky side of you, you’re so much happier and feel more fulfilled by your work.”
Our own Marisa was on The Rhode Show recently to talk about our upcoming Virtual Career Fair on March 16! If you’d like to learn more and register, visit careers.amica.com.
