Archbold's Brooks County Hospital has announced recent promotions within its nursing department. Kortney Thomas, RN, MSN, has been promoted to Director of Nursing. Raven Brown, RN, BSN, has been promoted to Nurse Manager of the Medical-Surgical nursing unit.
The First Bank recently presented Archbold Memorial Hospital with a donation through the Georgia HEART Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program. The program helps rural and critical access hospitals increase their funding and ability to provide health care needs for their communities. “We are grateful for The First Bank and their donation,” said Darcy Craven, President and CEO of Archbold Medical Center. “This program allows us to continue providing high-quality, patient-centered care to all who walk through our doors.”
Archbold Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce it will be starting a new inpatient chaplaincy program for patients and their families later this fall. The program will provide spiritual care resources to support patients and their spiritual and emotional well-being during a hospital stay.
Fifteen Southern Regional Technical College nursing students recently signed apprenticeship agreements with Archbold Memorial Hospital. The apprenticeship students, who are also participating in Archobld's nurse extern program, will gain practical experience in a healthcare setting to advance their training and education.
Archbold Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the recruitment of Stavros Stavropoulos, MD, a pioneer in Endoscopic Surgery, who will lead the Program in Advanced Gastrointestinal Endoscopy & Endoscopic Surgery at Archbold, the only such program in the region.
Archbold recently named Julie Dumas, BSN, RN, as Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety for the health system. Dumas has been with Archbold since 2005 and has over 15 years of healthcare experience, including direct patient care as a critical care nurse and nearly 11 years in hospital leadership roles. Most recently, she served as the Director of Hospital Accreditation for the healthy system.
Archbold's Hospice of Southwest Georgia has been awarded "Premier Performer" status by the Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) for achieving an overall caregiver and family satisfaction score that ranked in the top 5% for the 2021 calendar year.
Last month, family and friends of the Vann family gathered at Archbold’s Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center to celebrate the unveiling of a painting celebrating the life of Ann Vann. The painting, commissioned by the Vann family, is located in the infusion center waiting area and was painted by local artist Suzanna Winton. Titled Never Give Up, the painting is a reminder to all patients and their families to always remain positive and determined during their cancer treatment plan.
Archbold has named Libby Gardner, RN, the new administrator at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.
Archbold is proud to welcome Emergency Management Coordinator Seth Maxwell to their staff. Maxwell comes to Archbold from the Georgia Department of Health. He previously was the Director of Facilities Management at Clinch Memorial Hospital in Homerville, Georgia, where he oversaw emergency management, security and safety. He has been a veteran firefighter for 20 years and a sworn police officer for 14 years. Emergency Management Coordinators are tasked with helping communities and organizations anticipate hazards and vulnerability and create measures to mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters.
