Byline Bank Awarded on the Forbes America’s Best Small Employers 2023 List! Byline Bank has been awarded on the Forbes list of America’s Best Small Employers 2023. This prestigious award is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The awards list was announced on July 18th, 2023, and can currently be viewed on the Forbes website. America’s Best Small Employers ranking was based on the analysis of over 7 million data points with over 11,000 companies with more than 200 employees, but fewer than 1000. Placement on the final list was awarded based on a scoring model that considered the following aspects: A. Employee Satisfaction / Public Opinion Data: This took the form of recommendations given by employees anonymously through online surveys. These were either direct recommendations (0 to 10 scores from employees of the company) or indirect recommendations (positive/negative evaluations of companies, reflecting public opinion). Additionally, employee retention (avg. length of employment) was considered. B. Social listening data: The sentiment reflected in various sources across thousands of social media posts related to the company’s relationship with its employees is identified through an algorithm and deemed either positive, negative, or neutral based on textual analysis. Based on the results of the study, Byline is ecstatic to be recognized on the Forbes list of America’s Best Small Employers 2023.
Paying it Forward: The Right Way! The next generation of Byline team members hit the road to engage in a volunteer event at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. In attendance were interns, and the credit analyst class of 2023. Essentially, they collaborated with each other for three hours to package food goods for communities facing food insecurity. It was an incredible initiative that led to everyone bonding with one another and learning more about the cause at the GCFD. After the event concluded, it was estimated that our Byliners helped package approximately 404 cases of bread and 237 meals per person. Due to their hard work, the GCFD will be able to provide meals to citizens in impoverished communities. Not to mention, this is just another small baby step towards combating food insecurity in communities across Chicagoland. The effort from our interns and analysts is no small deal. Byline greatly commends them for their generosity and sacrifice, to help satisfy a demanding need. In closing, there is just no other way to close out the final week of the summer rotational program than this. Way to go to all who attended! Your charitable efforts will be recognized and celebrated in the homes of those who receive these food blessings in the future.

Byline Teaches Financial Literacy with Junior Achievement! Byline Bank has had a long relationship with Junior Achievement. Byliners have also volunteered many, many hours over the years teaching financial literacy with Junior Achievement, both in the Chicago and Milwaukee areas. Most recently, on May 3rd, 13 Byliners from various teams across the bank came together to volunteer at Bridge Elementary School on the northwest side of Chicago. Each volunteer was given a big box of lessons and materials to study prior to the event. When the time came, the group taught this curriculum to students in grades 1-4. The group had the opportunity to teach students about saving, entrepreneurship, careers, and any other topics that came to mind. One class was particularly interested in how insurance works! Overall, Byline was able to reach 269
Stephen Ball, head of Business Banking, recently served again as a mentor and advisory board member in the Coleman Entrepreneurship Center at DePaul University’s Social Impact Incubator Program. This is the second year in a row that Stephen has participated in the program, which challenges participants to scale and grow business ventures that have a strong social impact mission. Stephen mentored Elijah Obasanya, owner of software development and digital marketing company, Termnl. Ultimately, 13 talented startup founders graduated from the program, with each receiving mentorship from successful entrepreneurs and a stipend of $1,000 from Byline Bank to help elevate their company. Founders from the startups participated in a six-week bootcamp that included guest speakers, an entrepreneurial curriculum, group discussions, and assignments. These sessions provided resources to incubate and accelerate startups that have a clear social impact purpose to help their community, create jobs, support sustainability, or otherwise create positive social change.
