On March 24-25, 2025, we held our second annual Common Sense Summit on Kids and Families in San Francisco, bringing together leaders across sectors to establish national priorities for child and family well-being. The Summit featured prominent speakers discussing critical issues affecting young people and families today. Key themes included youth mental health, educational equity, AI and learning, digital parenting, kids' online safety. The event focused on building a diverse coalition of advocates and fostering cross-sector conversations to advance a brighter, more equitable future for all children and families.

The media we consume plays a critical role in shaping how we understand and make sense of ourselves and the world around us. For kids, media representations maybe even more instrumental as they develop and shape their understanding of race and ethnicity. Our latest report, “The Inclusion Imperative: Why Media Representation Matters for Kids’ Ethnic-Racial Development,” reinforces how media representation is important to how kids build their understanding of both their own ethnic-racial group, and that of others, and how parents are seeking media that teaches acceptance and inclusion.
