His influential “I Have a Dream” speech was an impassioned call to end discrimination and outlined his vision for a world where people are judged on the content of their character. SBH joins with everyone across the U.S. and Canada in celebrating the significance of Black History Month! The origins of Black History Month dates back to 1926. This month is dedicated to honoring the gifts, voices, legacy and resilience of Black people. Beginning with President Gerald Ford in 1976, Black History Month has been celebrated the whole month of February, with a designated theme each year. The Black History Month 2023 theme, Black Resistance, explores how Black people have resisted historic and ongoing struggles in all forms.
