As the Crowe Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, we’re proud to launch Board Ready@Crowe, a new leadership development program designed to prepare our professionals for nonprofit board service. The pilot program in our New York office brings together 15 managers and above for interactive sessions focused on governance, strategy, and community impact. Through Board Ready@Crowe, we’re extending The Crowe Way beyond the workplace by empowering our people to grow as leaders while strengthening the communities we serve.

Turning heartbreak into purpose can help ease the pain of loss. When Oscar Ortiz was working at Crowe, his son Sebastian was diagnosed with a rare pediatric cancer. After Sebastian passed away in 2016, Oscar and his family created SebastianStrong to honor his memory and advance awareness and research for childhood cancers. Over the years, the Crowe Foundation and our people have supported SebastianStrong with hundreds of volunteer hours and over $80,000 in donations. Retired Partner Mike Percy, who worked with Oscar in the Fort Lauderdale office, has supported the foundation since its start and now serves on its board. To date, SebastianStrong has raised over $6 million to fund research at leading institutions and recently expanded its mission to offer support for families navigating the pediatric cancer journey. Crowe support has also remained strong. Recently, Audit Partner Wendy Cama and National Office Partner Sydney Garmong joined Oscar, his family, and retired Partners Craig Yoder and Dave Ingley at the Nasdaq in New York City, where the former CEO of the Florida Bankers Association (FBA) and current advisor to Nasdaq provided a tour and Oscar was interviewed by David Wicks, Vice President of Listings at Nasdaq. Through the collaborative efforts of our Inclusion & Impact team and Women Leading @Crowe (WL@C), Crowe returned as a proud supporter of the AICPA Women’s Global Leadership Summit, held in Nashville in November. Crowe professionals from across the firm joined industry peers at the event in sharing insights and championing one purpose – advancing women’s inclusion in the workplace. Guided by the theme “Together We Rise,” the summit provided interactive learning experiences – from speed mentoring and development workshops to wellness sessions – all designed to inspire growth, connection, and confidence. The Women’s Global Leadership Summit is just one of the conferences Crowe sponsored this year with professional organizations. At Crowe, we’re committed to raising awareness about mental health and suicide. Our collaboration with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is one way we are continuing the conversation around mental health. Research shows that feeling connected to family and community support is one of the most important protective factors in reducing the likelihood of suicide. Through the Crowe Foundation, we’ve supported AFSP in many ways – from sponsoring “Out of the Darkness” Walks in cities across the U.S., to contributing to AFSP’s annual fundraising gala. Together with AFSP, we’ve also delivered presentations internally to our people and externally in the market to increase awareness and break down stigmas, particularly in underrepresented communities – including sessions at this year’s NABA Inc. and Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) national conferences. If you or somebody you know needs help, call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline or text TALK to 741741 to speak with a crisis counselor.
Two cities. One powerful week. Crowe was proud to recently sponsor both ALPFA Convention 2025 in Las Vegas and Ascend Engage in Orlando. From insightful professional development panels to our ALPFA Cares service event supporting Chicanos Por La Causa, team members left both conferences with deeper connections with business leaders and professionals across multiple sectors, renewed energy, and a shared sense of purpose for shaping the future of business.
Thank you to our Crowe team members who volunteered last Friday in our CroweCares Day events, sponsored by the Crowe Foundation! Across the U.S., India, and Grand Cayman, our people brought our core purpose and values to life by fighting hunger and food insecurity in the communities where we work and live. Also, a special thanks to our client Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority who volunteered with us in Atlanta and the 20+ Crowe Global member firms who coordinated their own volunteer efforts this year around the world.
