“Giving back to the communities where we live, work and serve is a part of our DNA at Delta, and it has never been more important. Even in a pandemic, our people want to roll up their sleeves and help. Whether through giving blood, providing food and supplies to those in need or bringing smiles to children’s faces during the holidays with bikes built by TechOps employees - Delta people care, and it shows.” -Tad H., Managing Director of Community Engagement Read more about how Delta people served our communities in 2020 below.
We were one of the first airlines to require that customers and employees wear a face covering across our touchpoints at airports and on airplanes. Now, a technical bulletin by faculty at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health confirms that masks are an essential part of a layered strategy to keep travelers safe throughout their journey.
"It's hard to believe that it's been 23 and a half years since I started my journey with Delta. I've had a great career filled with opportunities to grow and change jobs, volunteer and travel. Out of all the memories and experiences, my favorite was when I was nominated by my colleagues to become a member of ResLINC. As a member, I had the honor to serve as a liaison between Reservations specialists and leadership. In my 4 years on that team, I traveled to so many different Delta offices across the country, attended conferences and met many amazing people. Those experiences opened an entire side of the company that I didn'y know existed. To all of the wonderful friends I have made and people I have met along the way, I will be FOREVER grateful and will miss you all." - Pamela L., Customer Solution Supervisor Enjoy your retirement, Pamela! We are forever grateful for you, too. #KeepClimbingAlways
My 45 years with Delta have been an amazing ride. Three bases including Miami, Boston and Atlanta and two departments including Reservations and Inflight Service. I think the highlight of my career was when I walked into our airport lounge with my manager and was surprised with friends and family as they told me I was a 2014 Chairman's Club Honoree. I'll never forget walking the Red Carpet, the Flight Museum being turned into a magical place and Joanne Smith, Delta's Chief People Officer, calling my name and giving me a wink as I left the stage after Allison Ausband, our S.V.P of In-Flight Service, had given me my treasured Chairman's Club Pin. I will always look to the skies and remember my time at Delta with fond memories, but it is time to pass the torch to others to carry on and to turn in my badge and get a new one with those big letters 'RETIRED'!" - Barbara B., Flight Attendant Enjoy your well-deserved retirement, Barbara. #KeepClimbingAlways
Since the onset of the pandemic, Delta people have stepped up to get us through one of the most challenging periods in our history. Our employees have made sacrifices, whether volunteering to take an unpaid leave, working reduced hours or electing to participate in a voluntary departure program. We recently bid farewell to our employees who volunteered for one of our departure programs. We have many reasons to say thank you for your dedication to Delta, your colleagues and our customers. To honor those that have dedicated so much to us over the years, we will recognize a few of them and share their memories with you. "Thank you to each and every colleague who has elected to leave Delta under these difficult circumstances. Whether your career spanned two years or more than two decades, you helped Delta become the leading airline and your decision will truly save jobs and help Delta rebuild once again." -Ed Bastian, CEO
Taking care of people is at Delta's core. In 2007 the Delta Care Fund, an employee-led effort, was launched to assist Delta families who suffer a severe hardship from an unforeseen and unavoidable crisis ? a fund very important during COVID-19. Exemplifying the Delta Difference, a group of anonymous employees donated funds for employee t-shirts to help ensure the Care Fund would be ready if our employees needed assistance during this time. Within 2 weeks, employees purchased over 15,000 shirts raising more than $65,000. Since launch, the t-shirt initiative has raised over $140,000 by employees for their coworkers in need.
