In appreciation of #VeteransDay, our Valor Employee Resource Group hosted Coach Bryan Hoddle, who has worked extensively with injured soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center Hospital in Washington, DC, Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham, Alabama and across the U.S. helping amputees, traumatic brain injuries, blind and wheelchair soldiers. Coach Hoddle is a recipient of the Veterans of Foreign War National Citizenship Education Teacher Award and as Veterans of Foreign War Teacher of the Year for the State of Washington. In 2004, Bryan was selected as Head Coach for the 2004 USA Paralympics Track and Field Team held in Athens, Greece. Coach Hoddle is currently on the Board of Trustees for the Invictus Foundation, an organization dedicated to “healing the invisible wounds of war,” and continues to work with athletes and injured soldiers. Coach Hoddle and his wife, Sherri are also valued EFE clients. Coach Hoddle’s purposeful career and immeasurable impact on every individual he works with is an inspiration. When asked what makes him so adept at helping Veterans, he shared, “A college professor once told our class to, ‘Listen to understand, not listen to reply.’ I truly thinks that's the secret.” Join us in thanking our Veterans today for the dedication and sacrifices you and your families make to serving our country. #FromHereForward

As part of Edelman Financial Engines’ CFP Diversity Scholarship Program, we hosted a Meet and Greet with the awardees, Taylor Morales, Trevar Brown, Laela Erickson, and Sharon Garcia Xajil! The session included a glimpse into the planning profession with EFE colleagues Carin DeSimone, Josh Andreasen, Widmark Cano, Kyle Evans, and Pammi Bhullar. Each awardee and panelist shared their motivations for pursuing a career in financial planning. “The prominent theme across all attendees was this desire to educate and help others plan for their families, unexpected circumstances, and create stability through education and financial planning. These motivations stemmed from each attendee’s firsthand experiences seeing how detrimental financial illiteracy can be to families, and how life-changing financial guidance can be. Financial Planners can make pivotal, transformative impact in their client’s stability for not just one generation, but for generations to come.” Pammi Bhullar, Director, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Congratulations to our awardees! Thank you for sharing your inspiring motivations and journeys with us!
