Lift and Inspire: Together by Design promotes industry dialogue From April 19 – 22’ 2021, Ferguson organized the event Together by Design. This virtual event series emphasized the unity encouraged through design. During five online sessions, host Breegan Jane explored how our homes reflect our values and backgrounds. With this foundation, team explored how designing for inclusive interiors and celebrating diverse voices could lead to greater unity, better access, and deeper hope. The construction and residential trades have long been a male-dominated field. Even today, women represent a stark minority in the construction profession, and women and minority-owned businesses are rare. In the design industry, males continue to hold a high volume of leadership positions. Following were some of the tips shared during the event: • Acknowledge other people's accomplishments. • Know your values & why you have them. • Be a mentor • Drive healthy competition In the end, creating true community over competition which will require real partnerships and trust.
How technology helped Ferguson meet community demand in Texas Companies were again tested on their ability to sustain critical business activity when an arctic storm swept across Texas and then into 25 additional states. The ice storm left catastrophic and unprecedented damage. Prior to the pandemic, Ferguson transitioned to Microsoft Teams. Bell said, “Our Ferguson associates were already comfortable with the technology. We used Teams to communicate business-critical information statewide, from location closures and openings to product availability.” We repurposed many of our sales associates to work at our retail counter. We created an ‘internal help group’, crowdsourcing knowledge from other associates with hundreds of years of collective experience. This helped us serve Texas customers as quickly and efficiently as we can. We worked 24*7 to ensure our contractors’ safety and efficient time management while helping the families they served. We are proud to share that the Ferguson associates held themselves to the highest standards during this crisis.
Ferguson celebrates Feed the Need by honoring associates’ giving spirit In honor of our associates nationwide, Ferguson donated $100,000 to Feeding America to celebrate its eighth annual Feed the Need campaign. For nearly a decade, associates have partnered with food banks and animal shelters every spring to help strengthen the communities we serve. Many of our neighbors are turning to food banks for the first time due to the challenges posed by COVID-19,” explained Ferguson CEO Kevin Murphy. “Nothing is more important right now than ensuring our communities are safe and healthy, and part of that is making sure that everyone has food on the table. Our generous associates donated more than 50,000 meals each year to food banks across the country.” Feeding America’s 200 network food banks and 60,000 agency partners have seen a 60 percent increase in the number of people needing help. More than 54 million people may experience food insecurity in 2020, including a potential 18 million children. Since the beginning of March, Feeding America has helped distribute 1.3 billion meals.
IWSH, Ferguson Renew Partnership Celebrating World Plumbing Day As part of its celebration of World Plumbing Day, Ferguson is pleased to renew its partnership with the International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH) to expand access to life-saving water and sanitation services in the United States. More than 30% of families living on the Navajo Nation are forced to haul water to their homes for drinking, bathing and sanitation. They are part of the two million Americans who live without running water and basic indoor plumbing – a number that is increasing in a number of states. Through this partnership, Ferguson is contributing to IWSH’s initiatives that address critical water issues faced by marginalized communities in the United States. These initiatives include responding to the disaster in Texas, improving access to water/sanitation services on the Navajo Nation, addressing the dangers of open-pipe sewage in Alabama and supporting IWSH’s international work in Africa and Asia.
Additional US listing effective Mar 8,2021 Ferguson plc announced its additional US listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) effective Mar 8,2021. Ferguson will retain its premium listing on the London Stock Exchange and inclusion in the FTSE 100 index, and its ordinary shares will trade on both exchanges under the ticker symbol: FERG. The Board expects that over time the Additional US Listing will facilitate increased ownership by domestic US funds. Commenting on the Additional US Listing Geoff Drabble, Chairman of Ferguson plc said: “Today’s announcement follows on from the recent disposal of Wolseley UK which means that 100 per cent of our revenues are now generated in North America. The Board believes the natural long term listing location is the US and in April 2020, we set out a two-step process to achieving this aim. The additional US listing is an important milestone and as previously announced, after a period of transition the Board intends to hold a shareholder vote on a proposal to change the primary listing to the US.”
