Full Sail University’s Teacher Appreciation Week returned in 2022 with a week-long virtual conference that gave K-12 educators from throughout the country opportunities to enrich their professional development. Over 900 teachers from 850+ schools from around the United States participated in the event, which was focused on giving back to teachers with free webinars featuring award-winning Full Sail graduates and industry partners as well as some amazing giveaways on behalf of the event’s sponsors. Jeremy Barr was a budding music producer when he signed up for Full Sail's Audio Production program. The self-proclaimed "hip-hop head" was recording and mixing local artists in his parent's basement when he decided to build his career with a formal audio education. Today he's landing a steady stream of audio post-production projects for shows on Netflix, E!, and the Discovery network through his company, Oddly Enough Productions. Luckily, Dr. Rebecca Leis — who is Program Director for Full Sail's Computer Science bachelor's (including concentrations in Mobile Development and Artificial Intelligence), Computer Science master's, and User Experience bachelor's degree programs — is skilled at both. Rebecca brings years of academic research in software development, psychology, and human-computer interaction to the programs she oversees, helping students gain comprehensive training that prepares them to work in the technology sector. What did Disney’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, the Red Sox 2019 World Series ring ceremony, and the 2022 Cheer and Dance Competition at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports all have in common? Aside from being huge, televised events, they also had an experienced audio professional working behind the scenes: Full Sail Show Production course director Dave Harris. The lifelong audiophile has been working at concerts and major broadcast productions for years, and he’s drawing on that experience to teach his students about the latest equipment and network-based audio systems. Full Sail University is honored to announce in collaboration with the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games global broadcast partner ESPN, it will fully produce the first-ever 2022 Special Olympics USA Games Unified Esports Invitational on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Taking place at the university’s on-campus esports arena, the Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress, the event will air live on ESPN3, in addition to streaming via the Special Olympics Twitch channel, and Full Sail Armada’s Twitch. Audio Production instructor Eric Berzins developed features to make audio production program Wwise accessible for the program’s first blind student. While it's utilized at game studios across the industry, the program nonetheless was lacking accessibility functions for student Andre Woods, whose blindness makes features that improve accessibility essential to learning. Full Sail instructor Eric Berzins developed a solution that not only provided accessibility for Andre and other visually impaired students, but also got the attention of Audiokinetic, who recently wrote about it on the company's blog.
