Full Sail University is proud to announce its state-of-the-art esports arena; The Fortress has been nominated in the category of "Outstanding Venue" by the 2019 SportTechie Awards. According to the SportTechie website, "each candidate has made an unmistakable impact on the ever-evolving sports technology space." The Fortress at Full Sail University was unveiled in May 2019, and to date, is the largest collegiate esports arena on any college or university campus in the United States. The initiative to bring the burgeoning field of esports to Full Sail was organically spearheaded by faculty and students to provide an esports culture on Full Sail's campus, and The Fortress and surrounding initiatives bring a formality to that effort.
Looking for ways to use the hardware and software skills taught in the Simulation and Visualizations Bachelor’s of Science degree toward a positive cause, Course Director John Czaban and Program Director Rob Catto looked into the needs of the surrounding local community. John and Rob posed the question to their colleagues and students, “if someone is struggling with a daily activity, what can we do to try and help them?” Just down the street from Full Sail University’s campus, they found their answer, the Conductive Education Center of Orlando (CECO), where they can help develop assistive technology to improve the motor skills and lives of kids with Cerebral Palsy and neurological motor disabilities.
On August 1, 2019, Full Sail University received the honor of being named the “2019 School/College of the Year” (degree-granting institution) by the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools & Colleges (FAPSC) during the FAPSC Annual Conference held in Hollywood, FL. In addition to earning the “2019 School/College of the Year” title, Full Sail also took home the awards in the following two categories: -- Graduate of the Year (degree-granting institution) - Asia McMillian, 2018 graduate of the Sports Marketing & Media Bachelor of Science degree program -- Educator of the Year (degree-granting institution) - Dr. Kim Craft, Entertainment Business Master of Science & Business Intelligence Master of Science degree programs
