This week marks our 10th anniversary of Genentech Gives Back— a special week of employee volunteerism and fundraising. While we're coming together virtually this year, our passion for giving in service of science, patients, and people remains just as strong. At a time when COVID-19 is exacerbating existing economic and healthcare disparities and events of the past weeks have cast a spotlight on racial injustice and inequity in our country, the needs of our communities have never been greater. We’re proud of our employees as they come together virtually to make a difference, and we're grateful to our partner organizations for working tirelessly to drive much-needed change.

Doing our part during the COVID-19 crisis means going beyond our vital day-to-day work to advance science. We’re committing $42 million to provide immediate and long-term support to our communities, including low-income households and people of color disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. This support includes emergency response grants as well as funds for longer-term recovery efforts to mitigate ongoing challenges posed by the breadth and depth of this health crisis.
