Dear Fellow Social Workers, I’m writing this letter to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for all the effort, diligence, and hard work that you put into each day. Being a social worker is challenging and full of responsibilities. You help individuals, families, and groups to cope with problems they are facing to better their lives and experiences. You employ a variety of skills depending on the job that needs to be done. Social work often requires long hours and separating the emotional aspects of the job from the duties required can be a difficult undertaking. Thank you for putting in that extra time when the situation calls for it. Each day you bring the compassion, knowledge, skills, and abilities to truly impact lives. You are a valuable and insightful team member whose contributions positively influence the organization as a whole. Warm Regards, Millie Bickling Genesis HealthCare VP-Clinical Specialty Program Development
Get a warm feeling in your belly and eat a bowl of chili on #NationalChiliDay! Modern chili is usually attributed to Mexican cuisine but the culinary traditions of the Spanish and Native American cultures also influenced this dish. As chili spread to the US, it picked up regional influences as well. That's why no two chili’s are the same - beans, no beans, meat, vegetarian, cheese, even spaghetti. How do you like your chili?
After sending money to his family to assist with his brother's medical bills and funeral expenses, when his brother unexpectedly passed away, Nouba, a CNA at our Mesa Manor Center in CO, did not have any remaining funds to travel to attend his brother's memorial service in Chad, Africa. That's where our Genesis Employee Foundation (GEF) stepped in. GEF was able to assist Nouba, also a full-time nursing student and sole provider for his wife and six children, with his travel expenses. Nouba shares, "I was amazed. I am so grateful for your financial help. I was able to honor my brother and see my family that I saw last in 2011. My biggest concern now is to finish school, take my nursing board and work as a nurse. Hopefully, I will be able to care for my own family and also help my brother's wife and children until they grow up. My late brother and I were the only ones helping, but now I am going to have my hands full for awhile. Thank you very much!" We are truly #thankful for all of our employees who make the Genesis Employee Foundation possible. We care deeply. #caredeeply

Today, #NationalDonorDay, is typically thought of as organ donation day but it actually represents all types of donations – organ, eye, tissue, blood, platelets and marrow. You can help by participating in blood/marrow drives or donor registration events in your community. Please pause to recognize and remember loved ones who have given the gift of donation, have received a donation, or are currently waiting for a donation. Visit donatelife.net for more info.
Did you know #ValentinesDay ❤ first became associated with romantic love during the High Middle Ages when the tradition of courtly love was flourishing? During 18th century England, this day evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery and sending Valentine cards. Show that special "someone" how much they mean to you!
