In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth we highlight Mary Eliza Mahoney for her courageous and profound life that paved the way for racial equality. Mary Eliza Mahoney is noted for becoming the first black female licensed nurse in the United States in 1879. Mahoney dedicated her life to racial activism and women’s rights; her actions began a great wave of change for equality among nurses that continued to grow even after her death in 1926. #BlackFemaleHealthcareHeroes #BlackHistory #HealthcareHeroes
