June is Pride Month, and we’re proud to celebrate alongside our LGBTQ+ colleagues, communities, and patients. InterDent is thoroughly committed to Diversity & Inclusion; respecting diverse voices and perspectives is key to fostering an environment in which everyone, including our patients, feels valued. Gay Pride commemorates the series of violent acts between police and gay rights activists, also known as the Stonewall Riots, which began in the early hours of June 28, 1969. After police raided the Stonewall Inn bar in New York City’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, the gay rights movement was born. It is a time to recognize past struggles, past victories, current progress, and to celebrate your unique and authentic self. This month is the ideal time to support and foster an inclusive work environment where all of our team members feel heard and supported. At InterDent, we believe that everyone deserves to bring their authentic self to work every day, as our collective sum of individual differences only makes us stronger. We embrace and encourage our team members’ and patients’ unique differences; moreover, we are committed to educating our team on key issues in Diversity and Inclusion and continuing to rally behind the message of equality for all. As healthcare providers, each day presents us with the critical opportunity to eliminate health disparities and shape the health and overall well-being of our patients and the communities we serve.

Today we are thankful to highlight our Director of Orthodontics, Christy Hampton. Christy has lead the charge for our Las Vegas team to support the Annual Children’s Foundation Angel Wings event for the 6th year in a row. With the support of our Gentle Dental team members, along with Christy’s friends and family, 280 kids received gifts this holidays, which included 100 young adults who have grown out of care. In addition, our partner, Colgate, helped out the cause by donating 820 toothbrushes and care kits for these kids. We know there are many worthwhile endeavors to participate in and we salute all of our team members out there making a difference. As this year comes to a close, let us reflect on our good fortunes, our families, friends and communities. We wish you all the best throughout this holiday season. Happy Holidays!
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the many things for which we are grateful. Foremost in our minds is each member of our talented, dedicated and resilient team. We are deeply thankful for you and your commitment to building strong relationships with our patients and providing the best in oral healthcare to our communities. As an organization, we are having an exceptionally strong year and are on track to meet or exceed many of the goals we set for ourselves, which is a testament to the fortitude and dedication you continue to demonstrate. So while there are many things to be grateful for, today we would especially like to thank each one of you for your valuable contribution to this company. We wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and hope you have a wonderful time celebrating with those close to you. Sincerely, Matt Wickesberg & Rod Place Co-CEOs
InterDent Service Corporation is a proud supporter of National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. Team member health and wellness are top priorities for our organization. During last month’s companywide Breast Cancer Awareness event, we saw phenomenal participation from our team members. We are honored to be making another annual donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on behalf of our team members, bringing our total donations to over $12,500. We continue to be inspired by the heartfelt stories and unwavering support our team members have for one another. We honor those individuals who have battled or are currently battling breast cancer, along with all those supporting someone else in their fight against it.
We are excited to announce the implementation of a new 401(k) company match program for our team members. This benefit enhancement is another confirmation of our strong commitment to our culture and teams. We are very proud to offer this new benefit to our teams in support of their long term financial goals and retirement planning. Investing in a 401(k) company match for a company with over 2,000 employees and a high participation rate (almost 80%!) requires a substantial investment and is a testament to the value we place on our team members.
Oral health care providers are increasingly aware of the connection between oral health and systemic health as more recently demonstrated by the change in diagnosis of periodontal disease with Stages and Grades. It’s important to recognize that communication between health disciplines provides opportunity for improved health outcomes via sharing of knowledge and care coordination. Our teams are demonstrating their commitment to whole-person care by piloting in-office HbA1c testing. Patients with uncontrolled or suspected diabetes, or who haven’t been seen recently by their primary care provider, can have their HbA1c level tested via a simple finger stick blood test. This test provides quick results during their dental appointment. If the HbA1c level is out of range, the dental team coordinates a referral to the patient’s primary health care provider and the periodontal therapy is modified. In this way, our teams are working to improve their patients’ oral and overall health outcomes by looking outside the mouth. This is one of the ways that we are working to fulfill our mission.
