We’re proud to share our 2023 Corporate Sustainability Report, highlighting the progress we’ve made across our three focus areas: People Engagement, Portfolio Resiliency, and Stakeholder Commitment. From reducing greenhouse gas emissions and expanding green building certifications to advancing associate inclusion and supporting our communities through the Open Arms Foundation, this report reflects how we continue living our purpose while creating long-term value.
Every year, we welcome MAA associates from all around the country for our Annual Leadership Conference. This year, it took place in Memphis, and we are incredibly thankful to everyone who made this event a success. During the conference, attendees come together for networking events, develop leadership skills, and celebrate accomplishments achieved as one MAA.
We recently announced that our Corporate Sustainability Report for 2021 is now available. Released annually in November, this report represents a collaboration between our departments to summarize the great strides MAA makes to improve our operational resiliency and effectiveness through environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and sound governance. From the celebration of our diversity to the reduction of our impact on the environment, all MAA associates are a part of this work, whose core tenants use the Brighter View Statement and Core values to support the ongoing success and sustainability of MAA.
During this Hispanic Heritage Month, we spoke and highlighted the stories of several of our associates with Hispanic or Latino backgrounds, amplifying their voices, their accomplishments and their proud heritage across our organization. At MAA, we are fully committed to building a rich and diverse workforce where differences of opinion, beliefs and values are sought, listened to, respected and valued.
MAA, in partnership with Project Destined, recently sponsored ten students from across the country for a Real Estate Virtual Internship program where interns learned skills and experiences in preparation for a strong first job in the real estate industry. The students from “Team MAA” also had the opportunity to meet their mentors and fellow interns at our corporate headquarters in Memphis, TN, where they learned about careers at MAA!
We are excited to announce that MAA has officially joined the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
