Pride Month is in full swing and MTM is honoring the LGBTQIA+ community nationwide. In the District of Columbia, our Outreach team had the honor of attending 2023 DC Black Pride, an annual event that celebrates the Black LGBTQIA+ community:
"For the 2nd year, MTM’s DC outreach team attended DC’s Black Pride 2023 to provide resources and support to DC, Maryland, and Virginia residents. DC Black Pride is an event that started in 1991 when the need for love, awareness, and resources for the LGBTQIA+ community was at an all-time high. Three Black pioneers, Welmore Cook, Theodore Kirkland, and Ernest Hopkins, championed this need by rallying the community for the first DC Black Pride even in 1991, drawing around 800 participants!
