The Ride Right Reno location conducted an emergency response exercise on Wednesday, February 28th, with the help of our Reno client, Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County. The event was attended by emergency response stakeholders and the transit system providers which included Ride Right and MV Transportation. Paul Earnshaw, Reno safety manager, led the discussion in conjunction with Robert Reeder, Transit Safety and Security Administrator from RTC. Richard Steele, an explosives expert from the Transportation Security Administration spoke on previous worldwide nerve gas terrorist events. The event centered around a toxic release of a Tabon nerve gas by terrorists at one of the facilities where we transport patrons, which neighbors an elementary school.

In Eugene, Oregon, Ride Right partners with our affiliate MTM, Inc. to operate the Lane Transit District RideSource paratransit program. MTM provides customer service support to passengers and schedules rides, and Ride Right delivers transportation service. Recently, Ride Right staff allowed five MTM Customer Care Reps to walk in our passengers’ shoes, showing them how to safely load and secure passengers who use wheelchairs and utilize the wheelchair ramps and lifts. This was a great way to show staff what it’s like to be a paratransit passenger and ensure they schedule every trip with kindness and empathy.
