He focused on 3 points: the core purpose of our industry, the rapidly transforming risk landscape and how we can make an even greater contribution to our clients and society. The industry is at a crossroad. Given the new and emerging risks that are coming at us faster than ever before, the insurance industry has a vital role to play, but should keep in mind its purpose: to enable economic growth, the taking of risk and innovation.
Our first 'Author Event' in our NY office, hosted by Laurie Ledford, our CHRO, and Peter Beshar, our General Counsel, was a giant success. Linda Hirshman, lawyer, professor and author of the celebrated book 'Victory', told the fascinating story of the intertwined lives of Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the first and second women to serve as Justices of the US Supreme Court, which is the topic of her newest book: 'Sisters in Law'. She explained how the faster pace of work today impacts women more because they still do the majority of the "second shift" work. What do you think?
