What a good sport! For Methodist Gives Week, Methodist Richardson President Ken Hutchenrider (who was just named Community Leader of the Year by the North Texas Commission) agreed to sit in a dunking booth if the staff could increase employee engagement by 5%. Challenge accepted! Employees lined up to take their best shot. It was a fun way to raise money to keep the Basic Employee Needs Fund far above water!
Methodist sets system record with 10 D CEO finalists With 10 award finalists in eight different categories, Methodist has a strong chance of winning big at this year's D CEO Excellence in Healthcare Awards. This is the greatest number of finalists we have ever had in this awards program! Not only does Methodist stand to win outstanding health system, but President and Chief Operating Officer Pam Stoyanoff, MBA, CPA, FACHE, is a finalist for outstanding hospital executive. D CEO pre-emptively awarded Danny Holland, DO, orthopedic trauma surgeon on the medical staff at Methodist Dallas, with the Healthcare Hero Award for his work in a war zone in Ukraine — which you can read about at Shine Online. Dr. Holland was also named as a finalist for outstanding hospital practitioner. Methodist Mansfield earned a nomination for achievement in community outreach, the MHS Clinical Research Institute for medical research, and Methodist Celina for outstanding medical real estate project. Other nominees include Marsha Huey, Betsy Johnson, and Jacob Locke, who volunteer for Methodist Mansfield, Methodist Charlton, and Methodist Dallas, respectively. Some Methodist Midlothian employees showed up at Midlothian Community Park to participate in the city's Parktopia celebration. Our park party animals handed out Methodist swag while families helped themselves to free food and lots of activities, frisbees, flying kites, soccer, jump-roping, and the ever-present cornhole. Midlothian is one playful community!
The North Texas Commission presented Methodist Richardson President Ken Hutchenrider with the Community Leader of the Year Award for his contributions as the hospital's president and a Richardson City Council member. He's helped launch several community programs, including the Crisis Intervention Team — a collaboration with the Richardson Police Department — and multiple education partnerships that nurture the next generation of healthcare professionals. Ken was humbled and honored to receive the award. But we were not surprised. He's always been an awesome leader!
Our Methodist Southlake employees aced the School Supply and Backpack Drive, collecting a bevy of backpacks to benefit GRACE Grapevine. The team stuffed 67 backpacks, surpassing our goal of 60. How smart is that!
Employees have plunged into Methodist Dallas' drive to get to know its new neighbors, and everything's going swimmingly! The hospital has hosted a few pool parties at some new apartment complexes in Oak Cliff. The staff handed out swag bags and frozen fruit pops. Cool idea!
