Microchip’s Fab 4 display was one of the most popular attractions at the Makers Gone Pro event at the Center for Advanced Learning in Gresham, Oregon. Students attending this event were able to draw custom images on ping pong balls using an EggBot, an open-source CNC robot based on a Microchip MCU, and tried to win candy by turning on all the lights on an Arduino-based demonstration platform.
Attendees at the 2017 Colorado Springs Mini Maker Faire were able to learn about the amazing process of making integrated circuits at Microchip’s booth titled, “High Tech Alchemy: Turning Sand into Semiconductor Circuits.” Booth visitors were able to build their own semiconductor circuit—a light emitting diode across a small battery. By the end of the day, almost everyone at the event was proudly wearing a glowing Microchip LED button.

Employees at Microchip’s Romania office recently joined a group of volunteers who planted more than 1000 trees over a weekend as part of a local conservation initiative. This was a great team activity that not only promoted employee wellness, but also made a positive impact on the environment.
On Thanksgiving Day, runners from Microchip participated in the 13th Annual Applied Materials “Silicon Valley Turkey Trot.” This year’s event supported five local charities that provide families with health services, housing and food.

In his FY18 Q2 employee communications meeting, Steve Sanghi, Microchip’s CEO, congratulated the team on reaching its goal of becoming a $4 billion company. This marks Microchip’s 108th consecutive quarter of profitability, outperforming most of its competitors in the industry. Since Microchip practices shared rewards, this was happy news for team members because it meant that yet another quarterly employee bonus would be paid out.
