Once a year at Halloween, JPLers take a break from building robots that explore the solar system to craft dramatic creations out of pumpkins! 🎃 Now in its 8th year, the pumpkin carving contest gives engineers a chance to flex their creative muscles and bond as a team.

Meet Laura, a Research Scientist, whose typical days in the office range from designing giant lava rock walls to examining giant tubs filled with lunar regolith simulants. Originally from Denver, Laura attended Pomona College before earning her PhD in Planetary Science and Master's Degree in Engineering from Brown University.
