Meet Taryn, Mechanical Engineer. Taryn’s father, an electrical engineer working on space satellites, would bring her to participate in “Bring Your Child to Work” day. She says, “I thought their work was exciting and combined engineering with new frontier exploration.” Now at JPL, she works on small satellites and payloads such as RainCube, the Mars Helicopter, and MAIA, “JPL really has given me many opportunities for growth and the freedom to explore different technical aspects of my job." #LifeatJPL #CountdowntoMars
Meet Michael, Mechatronics Engineer. He's helping NASA's Perseverance Mars rover search for signs of ancient life on Mars as a member of the Mars 2020 sampling and caching team. His favorite part of the work? He says, “…It’s the people of JPL who actually create those cool things that go to space. I feel like I’ve learned so much from the people I’ve worked for, worked with, and also the ones that have worked for me.” #LifeatJPL #CountdowntoMars

This team really brought balance to the "Force of Mentorship" this summer through JPL's employee resource group mentorship program! Here's what they had to say: "I learned how amazing the next generation of engineers are going to be!😊" - Keri B., Mentor "This summer Keri taught me the importance of having confidence in your work. Her ability to provide advice in both career and other aspects of life is proof of her incredible mentorship skills.” - Jessica M., Mentee “Keri has been a great mentor in guiding me as I learn about JPL’s culture and how to grow personally and professionally. She has also told me lots of great stories about her experiences as a rover driver and we’ve been able to share our love of Star Wars!” - Leilani T., Mentee #LifeatJPL #JPLinterns #mentorship
Drill down into Mars’ Jezero Crater before NASA's Perseverance rover does. We worked with USGS Astrogeology to make this interactive map of Mars’ Jezero Crater and the Nill Planum region to help our teams understand what the rover should see after landing. Meet Bill Allen, mechanical systems design lead for several Mars rovers including NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover. The Los Angeles native started his NASA JPL career in the mailroom and now leads tiger teams, which solve some of our most challenging problems. #CountdownToMars #Mars2020
Our NASA Mars helicopter, Ingenuity, was recognized in TIME’s Best Inventions of 2020! We're proud of this trailblazing team.
We're excited to share the NASA Perseverance Mars rover by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory has been named the Grand Award Winner for Aerospace in Popular Science's Best of What's New for 2020 list!
