NGA's Mission Matters series highlights various components of our mission...from Seabed to Space. In 2023, NGA teamed up with the Ecuadorian government to study erosion and identify mitigation efforts, after a collapsed sinkhole destroyed the lava damn supporting the San Rafael Falls three years prior. From Nov. 29 to Dec. 7, NGA deployed technological support to map impacted areas along the river.
