We're proud to announce that PLK Communities has been named one of the 2025 Best Places to Work in Multifamily! This national recognition, unveiled at the Multifamily Innovation & AI Summit, celebrates companies that prioritize their people - and we're honored to be among them. This year, PLK earned two major distinctions: - 10th Best Place to Work in Multifamily (5,000-19,999 unit category) - 22nd Best Place to Work for Women across all multifamily organizations These accolades are more than rankings - they reflect our unwavering commitment to creating an environment where people feen seen, heard, and empowered. We believe success starts with strong culture, and it's our team members who bring that culture to life every day. Their passion, talent, and drive make PLK a place where great things happen. As part of a $3.4 trillion industry supporting 17.5 million jobs, we're proud to help shape its future through our work and our people. This recognition is both a celebration and a challenge - to keep pushing forward, raising the bar for what a workplace can be. To our team: thank you. This award is yours. To those seeking something more from their careers: the door is open.
2024 was a standout year at PLK Communities. We expanded our portfolio to 7,509 apartment homes and welcomed four new communities, including À L'aise Hyde Park, American Can Lofts, Mark Lane Apartments, and Campus View Apartments. Our construction and development teams delivered over 300 new units at Meribel and Veridian, launched leasing at Remington Lake, and broke ground on exciting new projects at Kenilworth East and Factory 52 Phase 2 - pushing our mission forward. Operationally, we maintained 95% stabilized occupancy, completed over 31,000 work orders, and raised our Reputation Score to 715, with several properties scoring over 800. Our maintenance team turned 2,300+ homes and consistently outperformed industry service benchmarks with speed, care, and professionalism. We ranked #99 on Training Magazine's APEX list, hosted our second annual Elevate Summit, launched a VR-based training platform, and led over 50 in-person training sessions. Our all-company events brought teams together across states. Through #GiveProud, we donated $81,000+ and 2,100+ volunteer hours. We promoted 48 team members and welcomed 137 new hires. PLK was honored as a Best Place to Work in Multifamily and earned NAIOP's 2024 Deal of the Year. As we look ahead, we remain focused on growing with purpose - developing great communities, investing in our people, and continuing to make a meaningful impact in every market we serve. The best is yet to come at PLK Communities.
On October 17, 2019, PLK Communities was honored to win the Best Places to Work in Cincinnati sponsored by the Cincinnati Business Courier. We pride ourselves on a people first philosophy and we are thrilled to know that this philosophy resonates with our associates. The BPTW process involves a series of anonymous employee surveys for a best places score. Those companies whose tabulated score was 90 or higher were deemed finalists in this contest. PLK has been a finalist two times in the past 3 years. This year the PLK team brought home the win! After winning the Best Places to Work award, Megan Lawhon, COO of PLK, had this to say, “I am so incredibly proud of this achievement! It’s been a personal goal of mine since joining the PLK family three years ago. I am acutely aware that everyone makes a choice about where they choose to work. We decide which work family we want to claim as our own. There is so much love in this family and I am so very grateful that all of you chose PLK.”
Talbert House helps children, adults and families coping with substance use, mental health and/or involvement in the legal system to support positive growth and change. Part of their services include support for school-aged children in Therapeutic Day School (for those experiencing serious emotional and/or behavioral challenges that impact learning) as well as those youth who are in need of residential care and/or supportive housing. This holiday season, PLK is once again partnering with Talbert House to provide gifts to the children in their programs who are struggling emotionally, behaviorally, and financially.
