Valley Brook Village is a first of its kind VASH (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) community for homeless veterans, situated on the Lyons Campus of the Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System in Lyons, New Jersey. Recently, they celebrated Veteran's Day with some wonderful events for the residents. On Veteran's Day, residents attended a luncheon including food and snacks. The Somerset Hills YMCA dropped off dozens of letters of thanks and appreciation to the Veterans from the local children of Basking Ridge. Over the weekend, Rutgers College in New Brunswick, NJ held their "Military Appreciation" Men's Basketball Game. In addition to residents receiving free tickets to the event, the Yates House for Military Veterans provided free boxed lunches for all veteran participants from Jersey Mikes Sub's. The residents enjoyed a great afternoon as the Rutgers Men's team defeated Merrimack College 35-48. Thank you to all who helped the veterans at Valley Brook Village celebrate this important and meaningful day. #wearepeabody #weputthehomeinhousing

We recently reached a milestone of $27 million in funding for our affordable housing portfolio through the Massachusetts LEAN Multifamily Program. LEAN is the statewide network of local Community Action Agencies which provide energy efficiency and other energy services at no cost to income eligible clients. Residents at Bedford Green in Bedford, MA recently took a field trip to a local apple orchard, thanks to Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH). All who participated said it was a great experience and they hope to continue a trip to this orchard on a yearly basis.
