Confronting the stark reality of affordable housing shortages in Massachusetts – a challenging landscape where 158,769 low-income households face a daily struggle for stability and opportunity due to the scarcity of affordable rental homes. Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Massachusetts initiated vital emergency housing payment assistance services to supplement the federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). Peabody Properties has been a key player in these initiatives, contributing significantly to addressing the housing crisis. As of mid-September 2021, our efforts have secured a total of $1,915,031.85 for the year, distributed across critical programs: - RAFT (Rental Assistance for Families in Transition): $1,872,824.76 in funding, providing essential support to families facing housing challenges. - ERMA (Emergency Rental and Mortgage Assistance): $20,108.00 in funding, offering relief to those navigating financial uncertainties. - SHERA (Subsidized Housing Emergency Rental Assistance): $22,099.09 in funding, ensuring access to stable housing for vulnerable individuals.
