As part of our efforts to advance a culture where employees feel supported to bring their full selves to work and create a life they love, #Pinterest recently announced an update to our parental benefits and highlighting our support of a national paid family leave. “Parents deserve support and a balanced work environment at all stages of family planning and child care, especially in the midst of a public health crisis. Extending our benefits to offer all employees more time and support to care for their children —and themselves— is critical to foster a positive environment for working parents in an ever-changing landscape. People do their best work when they feel seen and supported in a workplace that’s inclusive and inspiring.” —Christine Deputy, Pinterest Chief People Officer
From November 13th through 19th, we recognize Transgender Awareness Week, ending on a somber and poignant note: Transgender Day of Remembrance on Saturday, November 20th. Today marks the start of Women's History Month. To honor the month and celebrate International Women's Day, Pinterest has launched a brand new Pinterest Shop collection featuring 25 women-founded small businesses and hundreds of products all made, designed or imagined by women. Additionally, throughout the month of March, Pinterest has created an International Women’s Day fund and will match donations from employees to nonprofits helping women succeed like the National Domestic Workers Alliance and the Global Fund for Women. Because when women succeed, we all do. "Around the world, working women were the most affected by changes we saw in 2020 and so we launched the International Women's Day Shop as a way to support and show our commitment to small businesses. Pinterest has always been the place to be inspired and discover new brands. We are thrilled to give these women-run businesses a platform to shine.” - Aya Kanai, Head of Content and Creator Partnerships 📰 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gfetfXi 🛍️ Get your shop on: https://lnkd.in/e_FBZGr 💖 Donate: https://lnkd.in/gxDQXW4

This has been a year unlike any other. 2020 has served as a painful reminder that there are many important causes that deserve advocacy and action: the fight for racial justice, COVID-19, devastating natural disasters, the growing homelessness crisis, and so much more. For Pinterest’s holiday gift this year, we want to support all Pinployees who are inspired to act. One of the great things about our culture is that so many of us want to give time and resources to causes we care about. This year, Pinterest is repurposing the funds that were set aside for our company holiday gift, and instead empowering each employee to donate to a non-profit organization of their choice. Our CEO Ben Silbermann will be doubling each donation, maximizing our ability to contribute. Happy Giving Tuesday to all.
Yesterday, Pinterest's US offices had the day off to honor and thank Veterans for their service and sacrifice. In acknowledgement of Veteran's Day, read this reflection from Kaitlin O'Donnell, Design Manager and co-lead of Vets@, our employee group for Veterans and allies. Kaitlin, we're so grateful for you. "Pinterest was my first job in tech and at the time I had only been out of the military for 2.5 years. I was still trying to shape my new career and find my identity in the civilian world. After being here for a bit I heard about the Vets@ community and immediately felt a sense of belonging. It was the first time I felt comfortable opening up a bit more about my military experience. When I was approached to lead, it was a natural fit. I was already involved in the community and it help me make connections with other people outside of my normal team." Stay tuned for more insight from our Vets@ group throughout November in honor of National Veterans and Military Families Month.
