This month we celebrate women. The women who made history in this country. The women who currently are making history. And the ones growing up dreaming of making a difference. Every year, The National Women's History Alliance (NWHA) designates a theme for Women’s History Month. In 2022, the theme is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.” It serves as a tribute to the selfless work of those providing care and our frontline workers, who dedicated themselves during this ongoing pandemic. We celebrate women at Premise Health who are making a difference and living out our mission of helping people get, stay, and be well.
“Disparities in access and outcomes exist for many different groups including and, in many ways, especially for Black patients. Until we can honestly evaluate the current state of disparity, explore, and challenge their origins, and address them head-on throughout the healthcare ecosystem (from policy to patient), we do not stand a chance of making things better. Ignoring or mislabeling the problem might avoid discomfort for some in the long term, but on the flip side of that discomfort, lives are at stake. That’s a tradeoff society can no longer be willing to make. And on a larger scale, any one of us at any given moment is only truly as safe as the least safe among us. Addressing healthcare disparities that Black patients face also serves to make healthcare better for everyone. In this case, the right thing and the good thing are the same thing!” - Lauren Collins, LCSW, CDWF, Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
