Recology is proud to release our 2025 Sustainability Update, marking another year of progress in building a more sustainable and circular future. For over a century, Recology has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in waste and recycling. Today, we’re not just collecting materials—we’re reshaping systems, deepening community partnerships, and creating real momentum toward a more sustainable, circular economy.
Recology has installed artificial intelligence (AI) robotic sorters from San Francisco-based Glacier at its King County material recovery facility (MRF) in Seattle to improve the quality of the materials the MRF is recovering for recycling and to address material loss.
Thrilled to see one of our drivers profiled for his nomination as Safety Driver of the Year award through the National Waste & Recycling Association. Recology submitted 60 employee-owner nominations, and 28 of our employee-owners advanced to the final round.
Recology honors four employee-owners for their exceptional work and commitment to San Francisco customers at a Golden State Warriors game! These individuals represent a total of 87 years of work experience at Recology. We are incredibly grateful to have a group of dedicated individuals who strive to educate and support our communities year after year. Thank you for all that you do Brad, Ian, Jasmine, and Phil!

Annually, we publish our Sustainability Report that captures the key accomplishments that we make toward our vision to see a world without waste. This year, we were able to achieve our goal of powering our fleet with 90% renewable or alternative fuels. In a recent survey, 80% of our people rated that they were satisfied working at Recology, and the appreciation for our sustainability practices contribute to that sentiment. We also continuously look at how we support our people and in 2022, Recology: • expanded career levels for more opportunity and tenure. • added new courses to develop and strengthen skills. • hosted numerous listening sessions where employee-owners voice their feedback to help enact change. We’re proudly employee-owned and proudly focused on sustainability. Check out our careers website for more information.
