In honor of Women’s History Month, we look back at our 2023 APT graduates. In the final months of the program, each participant prepares and presents a 3-course tasting menu to an esteemed panel of chefs and leaders in R/A. We are incredibly proud to announce that our remarkable Occasions Caterers team in Washington, D.C. has won the prestigious Catersource Achievement in Catering Excellence (ACE) Award for Best Catered Wedding. This annual accolade is a testament to their commitment to excellence in the culinary arts, business acumen, community engagement, and professional development within the catering industry. Stand-out dishes from the expansive menu include caviar bumps, crab in fragrant coconut, petit filet mignon, apple beignets, miniature ginger creme brulee, and more. The Sweet Home Café at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. launched its Black History Month annual events with a book signing and Chef’s Table featuring Chef Chris Scott. At his Chef’s Table, he prepared signature dishes such as crispy cornmeal catfish, Grandpop’s meatloaf sandwich, brown sugar buttermilk biscuits, and silky chocolate mousse with a cocoa crunch. Guests were excited to meet and greet him as he signed copies of his cookbook, ‘Homage: Recipes and Stories from an Amish Soul Food Kitchen.’ Known for “Top Chef” and “Beat Bobby Flay,” Chris Scott is an R/A alum with successful restaurants like Brooklyn Commune and ButterFunk Biscuit in Harlem. We are deeply appreciative of Chef Chris for his remarkable hospitality and grateful to the entire team for their support with this event.
We are incredibly proud of our onsite and support teams for launching our latest coffee bar in Hudson Yards, NYC. The new space offers daily soups and sandwiches, locally-made pastries, and coffee from Illy Coffee. Guests were thrilled to meet the team and enjoy their new café. Thanks to Chef Mark Calogera and the team for working diligently together to make this opening seamless and successful.
