At the SRA AI Center, we focus on building the next-generation human assistant powered by voice interaction. I am Vijay Srinivasan, the Head of the Knowledge and Dialog Lab within the AI Center at SRA. We have two major complementary research themes within our team. Firstly, we have a language AI theme focusing on solving problems, such as spoken natural language understanding, natural language generation, and multi-turn dialog systems. Secondly, we have a knowledge theme, which includes (a) exploring how to leverage external world/domain knowledge and personal knowledge in deep learning-based language AI solutions such as natural language generation for proactive voice interactions and (b) knowledge discovery and mining from various sources, including phone usage and sensor data, visual documents, and user voice interactions with the phone.
Selfie cameras are a vital part of any smartphone — but finding the perfect place for the front-facing camera can often be an obstacle to seamless viewing experience. However, thanks to the Under Display Camera (UDC), users can say goodbye to the little black dot on the front of their screens. Samsung Electronics has given the UDC a serious upgrade in the newly-released Galaxy Z Fold4, offering users an even more immersive and uninterrupted full-screen experience.
Samsung Electronics’ Brand Value Makes Double-Digit Increase, Taking a Spot in the List of Top Five Best Global Brands 2022. The achievement was based on Samsung’s restored financial performance, which is now near pre-pandemic levels, and higher demand for memory due to an increase in data usage. In 2021, Samsung scored a brand value growth of 20% compared to 2020 and this year, continues the double-digit growth. Samsung first entered the top 10 list in 2012, placing in ninth position, and has managed to rise in the chart each year, reaching sixth place in 2017 and fifth place in 2020.

SRA's Audio Lab has been working towards its mandate of ‘taking Samsung’s audio technology to the top of the industry’ since its foundation. From making improvements in the pure audio sphere to building leadership in advancing TV sound technology, the Audio Lab has surprised the entire industry with innovative solutions including the Q-Symphony and OTS (Object Tracking Sound) technologies. Following the release of the HW-S800B Ultra Slim Soundbar for Samsung’s QLED TV line-up, which was unveiled earlier this year at CES, Samsung Newsroom spoke to Ema Souza Blanes at Audio Lab of Samsung Research America. She is the person behind the process for product validation and research that includes countless listening tests, all of which are conducted to deliver the best possible immersive viewing experiences with the finest sound.
