“Let’s talk about innovation at scale,” said Alexandra Brand, our EVP of Sustainability, Corporate Affairs & Transformation, during The Economist Impact events 5th Annual Sustainability conference in New York this week. In a conversation with The Economist’s Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran, Alexandra highlighted how Syngenta is driving agricultural innovation in R&D and on the farm. 🔬 “We're using computational calculation power for designing molecules, for defining how they fit to the respective protein, for defining how we will synthesize them, and for defining the toxicology profile.” 🌾 This data-driven knowledge feeds directly into farm management systems: Farmers can combine it with soil, water, and weather data — and that’s where the power of AI comes in. Faster innovation, bigger scale. The event brought together global sustainability advocates — reinforcing how collaboration and technology are reshaping agriculture. hashtag#EconSustainability hashtag#InnovationAtScale hashtag#AgTech hashtag#Sustainability

After over 36 years of dedicated service, Todd Perkins, our renowned Senior Flower Breeder, has retired. We express our deepest gratitude for his years of commitment and lasting impact on Syngenta Flowers and the horticulture industry. Todd's approach to breeding is based on more than just science. He takes time to familiarize himself with what's being used and sold, understand production dynamics, learn commercial growers' pressures and limits, and see what the gardener wants. His ability to grasp growers' needs has been instrumental in efficiently bringing his innovative varieties from concept to market, leading to the creation of several award-winning genetics. In recent years, Todd has passionately devoted himself to transferring his knowledge, experience, and expertise to the next generation of breeders, striving to ensure a bright future for our flower business. Todd's talent for flower breeding is incredible, and we're excited to continue building upon the outstanding genetics he's developed. Todd advises the next generation, "If you love puzzles, you're inquisitive by nature, and you've got a passion for flowers, go to school, because this is the best job in the world." Todd, we wish you the best in retirement, and thank you for 36 years of continuous innovation and excellence in breeding! To learn more about Todd's incredible career, visit https://bit.ly/4mlucUI.
Confidence. A grower must have confidence in the quality of what they’re planting from the very start. Quality control is the foundation of farm production and global food supply chains, but in recent years, these have come under attack from emerging pathogens intensified by climate change. Today, our Syngenta Vegetable Seeds team announced the opening of a new $9 million state-of-the-art Seed Health Lab in Enkhuizen, Netherlands. Since 2022, we’ve invested nearly $30 million in building a worldwide network of vegetable Seed Health Quality Control labs of excellence, including new labs in the United States and India, all supporting our company's mission to deliver the highest quality vegetable seed products to growers around the world. This world-class facility is a testament to our vision of supporting sustainable agriculture and food security through innovation and uncompromising quality.
