And that’s a wrap on the 14th Annual Tour de Pier! With $1.5 million raised towards lifesaving cancer research and support programs this year, Tour de Pier brings together an incredible community at the Manhattan Beach Pier for a cause bigger than any one ride. Team Bay Club, led by PK (Philip Kessel), showed up strong with 120 riders ready to spin, dance, and cheer their way towards more than $115,000 raised. PK also serves as the inspiring 5th hour Lead Instructor, closing down the event with heart, soul and joy every May.
Sunny skies and longer days can only mean one thing: Baycation season has arrived. Baycation was built around a simple idea: the best getaway is the one already waiting for you close to home. Not the trip you plan all summer for, but the one you spend all summer enjoying. As schedules fill up and travel becomes more expensive, members are looking for easier ways to spend time well with family and friends. Baycation brings that to life across our campuses, turning everyday access into a season of pool days, tee times, workouts, pickleball matches, recovery sessions, and time together.
Almost 50 years ago, we opened our doors in San Francisco. Today, we made it official: this is our home, permanently. Bay Club has acquired the entire city block surrounding our flagship San Francisco club in the North Waterfront neighborhood for $65 million, totaling more than 150,000 square feet. As Co-Founder Pete Jones said: "We had a simple idea in 1977: build a great club for this city. We're grateful San Francisco let us, and we're proud to see it still standing on the same block where it all started." San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie added: "Bay Club began in San Francisco and has been part of our city for 50 years. As our city's downtown continues to recover, this kind of long-term commitment shows that energy is returning, and we're continuing to build momentum." To our San Francisco members, our team, and this city: thank you for 50 years. We're just getting started. A new era is officially underway at Manhattan Country Club as we continue to invest boldly in the future of our properties and in the experience our members deserve. Our Manhattan Country Club is in the middle of a $25 million transformation—and the first chapter is complete, recently featured by Southbay Mag. The newly expanded 12,000 square foot fitness center introduces a significantly elevated wellness experience, including brand new equipment, studio and functional training spaces, and a Recovery Center designed for how our members move today. What's next: a Sky Deck built for Southern California evenings, a Family Activity Center, a new family pool, and expanded dining. The full member experience, elevated. This is what long-term investment looks like: honoring what makes a club iconic while continuing to raise the standard for what comes next. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g4wAKHgR A select number of memberships are now available and include unlimited access to nearby Bay Club El Segundo and Bay Club Redondo Beach. This month, Bay Club attended the inaugural Livelong Media™ Women's Health Summit in San Francisco, and what an event it was. Over 1,500 attendees gathered for a full weekend dedicated to women's health, wellness, and longevity. The speaker lineup was nothing short of extraordinary: Vonda Wright MD, MS, Mark Hyman, MD, Stacy T. Sims, PhD, and so many more, alongside keynote speaker Jane Fonda. One of the biggest takeaways of the weekend: community is not a nice-to-have, it's medicine. Loneliness is the health equivalent of smoking two packs of cigarettes a day. As Jane Fonda put it: "My people is other women. One of the most important things for women is to have women friends." From Shared Memberships to pickleball tournaments and group classes, community is at the core of everything we do. And that's something we'll never stop investing in here at the Bay Club.
Welcome to a new chapter at Manhattan Country Club. Take a behind-the-scenes tour through our brand new 12,000-square-foot transformation of the fitness floor—featuring expanded cardio and strength training, state-of-the-art equipment, and a new Recovery Center designed to support how members train, recover, and perform. And this is just the beginning. Additional renovations across the club are coming soon, continuing our investment in creating an even more elevated experience for our South Bay community. https://visitme.co/I0iPpq
Last month, our Bay Club community showed what can happen when people come together for something bigger than themselves. From Seattle to San Diego, members, associates, families, and friends showed up for Play It Forward for ALS, participating in hundreds of events across our clubs in support of Augie's Quest to Cure ALS. Pools filled before sunrise. Pickleball courts stayed busy all day. Golf tournaments sold out. Yoga rooms, cycle studios, tennis courts, and fitness floors became gathering places for a cause that has touched so many lives. And while the energy across our campuses was incredible, it was the personal moments that defined the weekend. 💙 In a Bay Club Portland cycle class, a family shared the story of losing a loved one to ALS, honoring his memory with his photo at the front of the room. There was not a dry eye in the class. 💙 At the Augie’s Quest Golf and Racquet Classic, 148 golfers, sponsors, and donors came together to Play It Forward, while Johnny Rodriguez shared a moving story of gratitude, resilience, and hope as he continues his fight against ALS. We are deeply grateful to every person who participated, donated, volunteered, hosted, or shared their story this weekend. Every dollar raised helps advance critical ALS research and brings hope to families who need it most. We could not be more proud of this community.
The roster is set. Say hello to our 2026 Summer Internship class! Each year, our internship program brings together emerging talent from top universities across the country, creating opportunities to learn, contribute, and gain meaningful experience across the Bay Club Company. And this year’s class of interns is our biggest yet — 100 interns from 44 universities across the country. We couldn't be more excited to officially welcome them to the team this June and continue investing in the next generation of leaders who will help shape the future of the Sports, Outdoor Recreation, and Active Lifestyle industry. We’ll be sharing more from their summer, including experiences, projects, and moments from the program as it gets underway. Good coaches can change a season. Great coaches can change a life. Last month at Pier 27 in San Francisco, we were proud to attend the 2026 Positive Coaching Alliance Game Changer Awards & Benefit, celebrating coaches across the country who are making a real difference in the lives of young people every day. From confidence and character to teamwork and resilience, their influence reaches far beyond practice and game day. The evening was emceed by Bonta Hill and Leslie Osborne Lewis, and featured powerful reflections from several athletes and coaches honoring the mentors who shaped them: Sergio Romo recognized his college baseball coach, Chris Hanks. Pat Spencer shared the impact of his high school basketball coach, Cliff Rees. Natalie Nakase honored Armond Hill and the lasting influence of great coaching. We left inspired and more committed than ever to giving young athletes the tools to succeed on and off the court, and to recognize the members and associates that step up every day to coach their community. Shout out the coaches that have made a lasting impact on your life!
At Bay Club, our community roots run deep across every region we serve, but San Francisco will always hold a special place in our story. It has been our home since 1977, and the city continues to shape who we are, how we show up, and how we invest in the communities around us. That is why our partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco means so much to us. It's about more than giving back. It's about opening doors, creating opportunity, and helping young people see what is possible. Jake Stafford, Club Manager at Bay Club Gateway, brings that to life in a big way. Recently, Jake attended the Columbia Park Clubhouse job fair, where he met with a number of Boys & Girls Clubs' clubhouse members looking for employment opportunities, which resulted in several offers being extended. We can’t wait to see them around our Clubs! And his involvement does not stop there. From supporting events like Around the World Kid's Night Out at the Don Fisher Clubhouse and Circus Kid's Night Hour, to personally delivering supplies during the holiday season to help restock the Excelsior clubhouse, Jake brings energy, generosity, and genuine enthusiasm to every interaction. As Jake puts it, "San Francisco has given a lot to all of us, so I try to make it a priority to invest time back into the future of the city. Being part of something that can open even one door for someone is pretty special.” Please join us in celebrating Jake for his extraordinary commitment to community!
