Introducing the Latino Associate Affinity Group! Diversity and inclusion are values that are critical to Wallick's success. We believe that Wallick Communities should be a place where people from all walks of life feel like they belong and can do their best work because of it. While celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, the DEI+B Committee is proud to introduce the Latino Associate Affinity Group! This group is committed to the representation, advancement, and inclusion of Latinos@Wallick. We will be holding monthly meetings and design programming for culture, heritage months, professional development, and networking. During the first months, we will be focusing on offering the Latino Career Assessment to our associates. The Latino Career Assessment (LCA™) is the only validated assessment designed to provide Latinos with the insights and development needed to build a successful career. Our future plans include potential shadowing opportunities within the company and networking events!
Stonewall Columbus Pride Festival and March celebrated 38 years of LGBTQ Pride this past weekend with the theme “The Power of Pride.” The city was filled with rainbows and cheerful people, including Wallick associates. Along with friends and family, associates were welcomed to join Wallick in the festivities. Our associates were among the 13,000 marchers who showed their Pride support down High Street on Saturday.

Imagine earning an income that is just enough for what you need to live a financially stable life, and then the most financially troublesome thing happens: your work hours get decreased. Inevitably, there will be bills that you can no longer afford to pay, and for Joselyn, one was her rent. Joselyn was doing a fine job of budgeting and keeping up with her rent until her hours at work were involuntarily cut back. Fewer hours meant less income; it also meant her home was at risk. As a resident at Villages at Roll Hill, Joselyn has the privilege of having Lisa Hyde-Miller as a Service Coordinator. Lisa assisted Joselyn with the application process for the Prevention, Retention, Contingency (PRC) program through Hamilton County Job and Family Services, which helps families overcome employment-related barriers. Joselyn’s application was approved less than two weeks later. She was provided the funds to catch up on her late rent and help with readjusting her budget. “Thank you, Ms. Lisa. Now I know how to budget my lower monthly rent, based on less work hours,” said Joselyn.
Highpoint’s resident Tom Wirth was experiencing difficulty taking care of himself at home due to his lack of mobility and weakness, which had unfortunately already caused several falls. He needed assistance with personal care and walking. Barbara O’Dell, the Property Manager at Highpoint, was aware of Tom’s hardships and spoke to Lynne Zorn, the community’s Service Coordinator, about ways to help Tom. Lynne found a rollator to help Tom with walking and going to the grocery store, and Tom received a bath chair to assist with showering. Lynne was also able to get Tom a Homemaker. The Homemaker Program is funded through a grant from the federal U. S. Department of Health and Human Services with the goal to support low-income elderly or disabled adults to be more independent while meeting their daily living needs. A Homemaker helps people with services such as household chores and personal care, for example getting dressed, and managing money to pay household bills. Through the help of Lynne and Barbara, Tom now has housing stability and can comfortably stay in his home.
