Walmart Global Tech partners with IIT Madras to accelerate research and skilling
Really cool trend we’re seeing at Walmart: More and more frontline store associates like Alkali Sanneh are using our Live Better U program to transition from field positions to cybersecurity careers with our Global Tech team. Alkali joined Walmart as an Electronics Sales Associate in 2013 and moved into a salaried store role by 2016. Now, he’s one of 1,500 associates who are getting their cybersecurity degrees 100% covered by Walmart through LBU. He’s on track to graduate this year with a BS in Cyber Security from Southern New Hampshire University, which helped opened the door for his current Global Tech role at the corporate level. Another example of how there’s #APathForEveryone here at Walmart. Great work, Alkali!

Our team often builds new digital features and writes code that make impact well beyond our core business. Dr. Cheryl Pegus and team recently published a One Year Vaccine Report that recaps how we are innovating with speed and working together to help keep communities healthy and safe. Walmart Global Tech’s role in expanding COVID-19 testing, enabling digital vaccine records and bringing life-saving vaccines to medically underserved communities embodies how I believe technology can help people live better.
