We had coverage for sick days up to a certain number of days according to the illness. Then the FMLA kicked in.

Realize that there are many branches of 3M and so probably different policies different places. Where I work it is a bad sick time policy. You are punished if you do not give them 24 hours advance notice that you intend on being sick. This is not a joke! You have to give them 24 hours advance notice! If you wake up with a bad case of the flu and call in, you will be punished by earning a point. 6 points in a year and you might be out the door.
