If you were a legacy Allscripts employee, the PTO plan was very generous. Once Allscripts purchased Eclipsys, the plan changed for new hires, and became closer to industry standard. Since Mr. Black became CEO, policies have changed across the board, employees are getting less and less.

Starting PTO is 15 days, and that lasts until you have been with the company for 2 FULL years as of January 1st. So if you were hired January 2nd, you will suffer 3 years of 15 day PTO. If you were hired December 31st, you would get 2 years of it. Basically your first partial year counts for nothing in HR's formula of calculating tenure. It is infuriating. Bringing up to HR how unfair and arbitrary that is gets you nowhere. I am beginning my 4th year with the company this month, yet this is the first calendar year I was granted the PTO bump beyond 15 days, per their convoluted formula.

Best thing is the number of PTO time offered. 10 days PTO plus company holidays off for new employees. 15 days PTO plus company holidays for employees working 2+ years.
Worst thing about PTO is that any sick day taken gets cut from the PTO.
