You get 5 or more shares of Amazon stock as Distributed Stock Units that vest in 2 years.. not options where you pay a percentage... these are given to you free and clear if you stay 2 years or more.

They could give at least 15 out. I know that is quite a bit, but anyone willing to work there two years deserves it.

Instead of options, we get "Restricted Stock Units." At various employment milestones I'm granted a number of shares of stock. Since they're grants, they're income. Three stars because of the long vesting schedule with initially small grant amounts. With the "sell to cover taxes" option you end up with about 60% of the shares you were granted. The stock has done well for me because I lucked out joining on the bottom of the rollercoaster. Those hired after me took a hit and just broke even recently. It is mentioned but not promised that they will increase RSU quantities to reach a compensation target should the stock tank.

Bonuses are given only through stock options. They account for the stock price increase and adjust while giving out new options.
