Employee Discounts

The company tries to keep the customer discount between 25% to 35%, employee discount is 30%. You typically cannot combine specials. Very often the customer discount is superior to the employee discount. Once or twice a year they offer a 50% off, which feels nice, but they do it so they can clear out stock. You also get a cool 40% off at Hot Topic that is combinable with customer discounts.

Since everything is so expensive and hard to find anywhere else , It's really nice to have the employee discount.

At Hot Topic the discount combines with in-store promotions; at BoxLunch, you only get 30% off everything with no stackable promotions. Usually, however, it is still the best deal.

Since it is a part of Hot Topic and Torrid you receive a 30% discount at BL and 40% at HT and Torrid.

pretty good compared to other companies

They bumped it up a bit but it's still not enough for how expensive the merch is. When employees can buy the merch you sell the more they are prone to sell it better to customers. Also it not being able to stack on most promos hinders even more people from buying.
