You would think the hard work worth the price but when the economy is good, you can easily earn more from stock than the performance bonus.

Bonuses used to be connected to a numerical rating of 1 (excellent) through 5 (poor). Now the bonus is not connected to any rating and managers can be quite subjective in how they divide the bonus among the larger team.
